Hi, I am Janina King, and I like to make things happen, or sit around while others make things happen.

I sometimes post pictures of animals to describe how I feel, which has proven to be a very accurate and mature form of communication.

Feel free to send me love or indifference at janinapking@gmail.com

Enjoy.

A Missed Opportunity

Unless I am intensely bothered by something or newly in love, I NEVER wake up early, or even on time.  I’m not newly in love (I just fell back in love with myself recently, but the newness has worn off), and I’m not intensely bothered by anything, so I woke up my usual twenty minutes late.

I pretended to hurry as I blow dried all of my hair, shaved my legs, painted my nails - you know, things you do when you’re running late.  I checked the weather on the ones and saw that today will be gorgeous, so I decided to wear my new heels and a dress.  Yay for me.

I was bounding down the stairs of my building in my heels, making a list of fun music to listen to on my ride into the office on my ipod when on my last seven steps, my heel made contact with a different part of the stairs, you know the part that dips down in the middle from being old, and for as long as I’ve lived here I always avoid?  Yeah, that part.

As I descended down the stairs in a new way, let’s call it headfirst, I felt as if I were flying, soaring free through the air like a bird, or more like a flying squirrel.

fly

I didn’t utter a sound, and it happened so fast, I had no time to let my life flash before my eyes.  The only thing I remember is hearing a loud bang as the front of my right ankle fell on one of the steps.  As my ipod went sailing over the handrail, my earphones wrapping themselves around the banister, my dress flying up over my face, and my upper body fell into my large purse, I was immediately grateful for not falling on my face and not breaking my wrists.

Now as I sit here, RICEing my ankle, ow

All I wish is that someone would have been there to witness that.  I’m sure that fall was hilarious.

***UPDATE***

I just talked to my mother, and in typical motherly fashion, decided to take pictures of my wonky stairs before she left to fly back home yesterday…

My mother is um, not just awesome, but psychic?

Wow.
